How Many Rooms Do You Need for a Group Hotel Rate?
Short answer: many hotels start group pricing at around 8 to 10 rooms booked for the same nights, under one booking. The exact threshold is set by each hotel and can rise in peak season or at smaller resorts. Below that line, rooms are usually priced one by one.

What hotels count as a group
A hotel treats a booking as a group when three things line up:
- Same hotel, same dates. Rooms arrive and depart on the same nights, or with small differences agreed in advance.
- One booking, one contract. The rooms are held together as a block, not as separate reservations.
- Enough rooms. The hotel's own minimum, commonly around 8 to 10 rooms per night.
Ten people sharing twin rooms is five rooms, not ten. Count rooms per night, not travellers.
Why the threshold changes
Season
In peak weeks a hotel can fill rooms one by one, so it may raise the group minimum or limit group space altogether.
Hotel size
Ten rooms is a small share of a 400-room city hotel and a large share of a 60-room resort. Smaller properties are stricter.
Day of week
City business hotels are busiest Monday to Thursday; resorts at weekends. Groups that fit the quiet nights get better terms.
Below the group threshold
For four to seven rooms, a group contract is often not worth it. Booking the rooms individually at partner rates is simpler: each room has its own confirmation, and the cancellation terms apply per room. Bedtara quotes both ways when a request sits near the line, so you can compare.

Questions
Is 10 rooms always a group?
No. Ten rooms is a common threshold, but each hotel sets its own minimum, and some raise it in peak season.
Do group rates always cost less?
Not always. A group rate buys a held block and one set of terms. In quiet periods an individual partner rate can be similar or lower, so compare both.
Can the group stay in two hotels?
Yes. Large groups are often split across nearby hotels, each with its own block, under one quote and one invoice from Bedtara.
How are group bookings paid?
With a deposit and a balance on dates stated in the quote or group agreement, by bank transfer or card. Vietnamese companies receive a same-day VAT invoice.
